Isolée Mix For RA’s Latest Podcast!

One of all time absolute favorites! The quirky German producer definitely has an ear for out-there music that still feels somewhat familiar. This is the most excited I’ve been for an RA podcast in quite some time. Read more info and the interview at RA, where you can download as well!

New Winter Mix From JéJé

My buddy Jeremy has just released his second mix (Howl was the first)! Named after Robert Smithson’s famous earthwork, Spiral Jetty is a pretty awesome emotional journey – downtempo, uplifting and full of Pantha Du Prince-esque bells and melodies. Always love his track selection, which I’ll post once I get it! For now, enjoy:

The iTunes Business Model and its Widespread Effects

iTunes, love it or hate it, you can’t ignore it.
This is actually a research paper I wrote for a class some time back (pardon the occasionally dry tone), and I feel it’s worth sharing. It is indeed a long read, but give it a shot and hopefully you may learn something new!

Update: If you’d like to read my follow up paper about why iTunes hasn’t actually changed much, click HERE.

Deep Sea Diving With San Soda

I came across this feature on San Soda the other day, and after checking out the first linked tune, I had to listen to all of this guy’s stuff. Sure, the feature was good, but it scares me how often people find the nicest things to say about the worst stuff. Negativity aside, check out his tunes. “Something About Compression” is an obvious interpretation of Daft Punk’s “Something About Us”, really nice. For some reason I can’t help but think his music as a soundtrack to deep dea diving. In a good way of course.

Robag Wruhme’s “Wuppdeckmischmampflow”

I can’t say there are many released mixes that compete with those of Kompakt (Fabric is the only other that comes to mind). When I saw that Robag Wruhme was releasing one (a name I’m still not attempting to pronounce), I was ecstatic! Well, I’ve just got my ears on it and I’m loving it as I type. Just looking at the awesome tracklist of mashups tingles my head. Oh yes. Read RA’s review if you like. Only previews for now…
