Sounds of Summer With Cadenza Records

Where’s a good day party when you need one? I mean, I love the atmosphere of a good club and all, but on a nice Sunday afternoon, getting down in the sun to some great house tunes with a cold beer just can’t be beat. If there’s one label that really gives off great summer vibes, it’s Luciano’s Cadenza Records.

New Chill Out Mix: Sprezzatura

I know I’ve been quite slow with new posts, but coming back to the US + starting work has made things slightly more difficult. Hopefully this mix makes the delays worth it! The tracklist was chosen mostly by my brother Beau (inspired partly by Robag Wruhme’s RA Podcast). Thanks to Smoochey for introducing me to the term. My simplest of mixes, hope you enjoy.
Sprezzatura: an Italian word originating from Castiglione’s The Book of the Courtier, where it is defined by the author as “a certain nonchalance, so as to conceal all art and make whatever one does or says appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it.”

Coping With Berghain Withdrawals

Still Intimidating During The DayI’ve just come back to Los Angeles, and with no sight of Berghain in the near-future, I’m getting a little depressed. Luckily, I’ve found these mixes that are making things a little easier, one drop at a time.

Deep and dynamic.

Off The Green With Tiger & Woods

Not much is known about this secretive duo other than the fact that their slo-mo-boogie disco-edits are banging. That said, there’s really not much I can tell you about their funky-sample-heavy-grooves other that to check them out for yourself. Perfect stuff for driving around with the windows down or a laid back summer party. Summer is here, enjoy!

Good Night From Robag Wruhme

As if I haven’t been loving the man enough lately, Gabor has just done an absolutely stunning mix for XLR8R’s podcast series. It’s a follow-up mix to his morning mix for RA (I didn’t post it, but definitely check it out, a perfectly eclectic mix to get your day going). This XLR8R mix is the “good night” mix. As XLR8R puts it: “In short, this isn’t a session for the dancefloor. Instead, Wruhme pieces together soothing, melodic pieces pulled from the far corners of the musical spectrum, be it experimental ambient works, film scores, or symphonic classical pieces.” It’s an incredibly powerful and emotional journey, an orchestra for your dreams.
