Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s “Tristesse” Remixed

German trio Wareika have just released Per Aspera Ad Astra (through hardships to the stars), an interpretative remix album. Some of the names included are GusGus, Lopazz, Kasper Bjorke, and my favorite: Kollektiv Turmstrasse. Arguably their finest masterpiece, “Tristesse” is a beautiful tale of hope and despair, with delicate melodies building to an incredible drop. In all honesty, no remix could even compare to the original. But in this case, Wareika have taken the song in another direction, giving it a more interpretative, spur-of-the-moment, and emotionally ambiguous feel. It doesn’t try to compare to the original, and in doing so, does a solid job. Oh, and the remix of Kasper Bjorke’s “Go Away Song” is awesome.

Kollektiv Turmstrasse Releases “Rebellion Der Traumer”

Kollektive Turmstrasse have just released their debut album Rebellion Der Traumer (Rebellion of the Dreamers) on Connaisseur Recordings. With my old favorite,  “Tristesse”, I had really high expectations – they fuse melody and beat like no other. During my first listen, I was a little surprised at their much different sonic approach (it sounds much more analogue), still techno but with slightly more IDM/Pop/Deep House. The melodies are beautiful, and the chopped/looped vocals, really layer nicely. I was a little hesitant with the album at first, but upon hearing “Kontakt”, I was absolutely convinced. They definitely changed their sound. They sure delivered. Check out the top tracks:
